World Malaria Day Outreach 2018
Ready to Beat Malaria: these words mark the theme for this year’s April 25th, 2018 World Malaria Day. On this day, a special focus is placed on the global malaria community, to observe the results of those who have been combating malaria, strengthen previous anti-malaria initiatives and create new policies to stop and eventually wipe out the disease. In Sierra Leone, malaria is still a dangerous threat to the lives of the populace. A 2017 report stated that there were nearly 23,000 reported cases of malaria in the country last year with nearly 100 related deaths.
These statistics prove that progress has been made, but more work needs to be done. The World Health Organization has set a 2020 milestone to have reduced malaria case incidence and death rates by 40%. The eradication of malaria will not happen unless there is more investment in malaria diagnosis, treatment and prevention. We at iMatrix101Group believe the responsibility of aid, not only in healthcare, but every other pivotal sector, does not fall solely on the shoulders of government, but all those willing and in a position to help. It’s for this reason we focus all our Corporate Social Responsibility Projects on pressing societal issues, such as women, youth and educational empowerment, stating our own personal mantra, “Changing Lives!”
As our own commitment to beating malaria, we have partnered with the Aberdeen Women’s Centre and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation for a sensitization outreach, visiting communities to inform them of malaria prevention strategies and best practices to combat malaria. The local theme is “Join Bele Wuman Beat Malaria” and we are excited to team up for such a noble cause. If we are truly Ready-to-Beat-Malaria, it means the private and public sector, along with local government and the international community, putting resources, ideas and actions together. Only then can we ensure a healthier, malaria-free future.
matrix101 Change A Life Scholarship Supports Children Of Dolbert International School 2017
Committed as ever to their corporate social responsibility drive, iMatrix101 Group donated backpacks filled with books, pens, crayons and other essential learning materials to the recipients of the iMatrix101 Change a Life Scholarship at the Initiative for Women and Girls Empowerment (IWGE) Orphanage located at Wellington. During the presentation, Augusta Memuna Conteh, Sponsorship, Events & CSR Executive for Elixir Marketing & Media, the communication and media unit of the iMatrix101 Group, said that iMatrix101 has had a steady and productive relationship with IWGE since April of 2016, from assisting with finance to pay the rent, to selecting the children that have become beneficiaries to the scholarship and continuing the support to ensure the future leaders are empowered to one day contribute to society.
“We want to keep motivating these young people to ensure they reach their full potential.” Marketing and Media Manager, Ajara Bomah presented the learning materials to the children, stating that her and her team were extremely pleased with the excellent results they received in school and iMatrix101 was proud to see them making the most of the opportunity given to them. “You students are an inspiration to youth pushing to make their dreams come true. Keep up the good work.” Admin Supervisor Mohamed Sheka thanked iMatrix101 for the donation and show of goodwill, saying that all the past support to present day was appreciated and may the relationships between both organizations continue.
Imatrix101 Conducts Training Workshop for The Aberdeen Womens Center: Soap Making for Business Development 2017
Once again going above and beyond expectations, shipping and logistics company, iMatrix Group, organized a training workshop at the Aberdeen Women’s Center, to empower women by teaching them not only a trade skillset, but the business sense needed to operate efficiently. Fulfilling their Corporate Social Responsibility iMatrix101 met with teenage mothers and young pregnant girls and taught them how to make their own soap with materials found at local markets. Christine Sesay, from Africa’s Moneypreneur, taught the young women that investors are always happy when they know the money they invest into a project is being put to good use, so she educated all those in attendance that the goal is not only to learn how to make soap at an affordable price, but how to properly process it, sell it, save and invest the profits from the venture for future projects.
Ajara Bomah, Marketing and Media Manager for Elixir Marketing & Media, the communication and media unit of the iMatrix101 Group, informed all the girls that although they are already parents at a young age, all is not lost. They still have all the time in the world to get educated, get out and empower themselves. She assured them all that iMatrix101 will continue to engage them with similar programs and workshops in the future and then questioned all the ladies on what other activities they would like to witness in order to educate and better themselves. While receiving feedback from the girls attending the workshop, many of the teenage mothers complained that because of their pregnancies they had to suspend their various academic pursuits, due to either physical strain or lack of resources. Ms. Bomah surprised them all by informing them that one of the iMatrix101 partners, Educaid, was willing to help those still trying to pursue their education and was willing to assist students to attend classes, free of charge.
Ms. Bomah ended by urging all the young ladies to take advantage of not only the opportunity presented through the training workshop, but all opportunities presented to them. “Because here at iMatrix101,” she ended, “we believe in Investing in Dreams!” a statement from her office at 14 Lower Waterloo St, iMatrix101 Group Managing Director Miatta D. Efe-Oghene shared that this was one of many initiatives of the iMatrix101 Group. “The vision I have is to empower young women in this country with more than training but also the platform to showcase their talents on a national and international level. iMatrix101 will not only continue to perform our corporate social responsibility and excellent services, but we will develop the youth and women of Sierra Leone because we know for everyone we help, they will be able to help another. ” She said that’s why the mantra of the iMatrix101 Group is “Changing Lives”, because one life can change another.
